SOCIAL INNOVATION PROJECT MANAGER

The Compagnie Théâtre Créole is a non-profit organization working with marginalized communities and needs dynamic administrative support ready to take on new challenges with us. After 10 years in the field, we’re ready to step up a gear and bring culture in all its forms to all communities. We want to take Afro-descendant culture to another level by involving artists in an entrepreneurial process.

 

JOB CHARACTERISTICS

Temporary position for one year with possibility of renewal

Start date: as soon as possible

Schedule: 35 hours per week (flexible*) workload varies according to events

Hybrid work possible, mostly face-to-face in Montreal

Compensation: from $26 and up depending on experience

 

THE MANDATE

The incumbent is responsible for the development of our social economy projects, and for grant-seeking, particularly in terms of mobilizing partners and the public. He/she ensures the cohesion of related projects in order to meet objectives, costs, deadlines, expected quality and the scope of the event. The Project Manager works to expand and consolidate the institution’s networks, and develop new partnerships in line with the Company’s strategic plan.

Main tasks:

  • Apply for grants to renew the organization’s project funds;
  • Implement the mobilization plan for the Company’s social economy projects;
  • Help produce the company’s flagship events (Art pour tous, FETHECOMNOIRS, Absolument Femmes, Festithéâtrecréole);
  • Collaborate in the implementation of the Compagnie Théâtre Créole’s strategic planning for the current year and the next;
  • In collaboration with the communications team, develop promotional, media relations and content production strategies for all activities, including the mobilization plan;
  • Manage the budget for major projects under the supervision of the project coordinator;
  • Document management of the various initiatives under his/her supervision (reports, balance sheets, surveys, dashboards, annual activity reports, etc.);
  • Maintain links with the organization’s other programs and projects; keep abreast of networking opportunities and take part in events to raise the Company’s profile;
  • All other related tasks.

 

ATTITUDES AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Experience in project management (NPO an asset);
  • Learn how arts councils work (Montreal, Quebec and Canada),
  • Knowing the standards for grants from major partners (ministries, foundations and banks)
  • Able to mobilize other potential funding partners; Raise and manage multi-million dollar funds.
  • Ability to consult, mobilize, create alliances, foster partnerships and networking between cultural players and other sectors; Ability to work as part of a team;
  • Knowledge of the issues (cultural development, localization, accommodation, social innovation in the cultural sector, digital transformation and territorial singularities) faced by Quebec’s cultural milieu, particularly the Black community; Strong sense of autonomy and developed analytical and synthesizing skills;
  • Great ability to initiate projects and work on several dossiers at once;

KNOWLEDGE

  • University degree in social innovation, management of cultural organizations, cultural entrepreneurship, project management or other relevant fields;
  • 2 years or more experience in project management ;
  • 2 years (mandatory) or more experience in project writing and grant applications over 100 k;
  • Excellent command of spoken and written French;
  • Excellent command of digital tools (Microsoft Office suite, Google Drive, collaborative tools such as Slack, Zoom, etc.).
