Reading of “Les dix hommes noirs” by Étzer Vilaire by Collectif Mise au point with Rodlin Christolin

In Les Dix Hommes noirs, Étzer Vilaire questions the human condition head-on.

through ten male figures confronted with social violence, feelings of erasure and the need for dignity. Each embodies a way of fighting, of holding on, of staying alive in a context marked by exclusion and post-colonial heritage. This performance-reading takes the form of a narrative that draws on the polyphonic force of the work. Each man becomes a singular voice, the bearer of an experience, an inner conflict, a way of resisting or resigning. Together, they form a fragile yet powerful chorus, revealing the tensions between identity, survival and hope in a society that marginalizes and assigns.
